What to Expect at Discovery Day

If you have looked into the pros and cons of franchise opportunities and are ready to get your feet wet, it is time to get more serious. Scheduling a Discovery Day is the next step toward finding your ideal franchise and closing a deal. Not everyone gets to attend a Discovery Day, so you need to go through the preliminary steps first to make sure you get an invite. Once you have shown your financial qualifications and have done your research about franchise ownership, here is what to expect once you get a coveted Discovery Day invite. 

Facility Tour

After you receive your invite, you will need to show up at headquarters at the predetermined time. You will receive a tour of the facility and will probably meet the CEO and other key company officers. If there are multiple franchise operations located near headquarters, you may have the opportunity to visit them. 

Company Culture

While you are visiting corporate headquarters, take the opportunity to learn as much as you can about the culture and day-to-day operations. Meet as many people as you can and ask plenty of questions. You may want to write your questions down on a pad of paper beforehand so you do not forget them once you are there. 

Persuasive Language

Now that you have shown your interest in buying a franchise, you will probably notice more persuasive language from the franchise development rep. They will be eager to answer any questions you may have and may try to get a commitment from you before you return home. Despite the increased pressure, always make the decision that is best for your situation. You should feel very comfortable about the company and the opportunity before you sign any purchasing papers. 

Formal Approval

If you decide you want to take advantage of one or more franchise opportunities, you will first need to be approved by the executive team. They will probably make the decision in the days or weeks following your visit and will follow up with you as soon as they have approved you. Once they have done so, the final decision is, of course, up to you.
